The Centre for Advanced Training in Agricultural Development (CATAD) is located within the Faculty of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences of the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. Since 1962, the centre offers a one-year postgraduate course for young professionals and scientists for project management for rural development which focuses on competencies in development policy, planning methods and social and communication skills. One of the key elements of the course is a three-months field project. These CATAD projects are consultancy studies commissioned by various development agencies. GTZ promotes inter cultural cooperation in the context of applied research and is a partner of CATAD for more than 30 years. In 1999 and 2001 IFSP-GTZ entered into agreements with CATAD for support. Two studies with specific recommendations for IFSP and partner institutions are available.
